Stephen Jarrett serves as NDI's director of information and communication technology, a position he has held since joining the Institute in 1999. Previous to NDI, Mr. Jarrett worked for more than 12 years implementing and managing technology for non-profit and philanthropic organizations. Mr. Jarrett's IT experience includes federal and state governments (where he worked on the nationwide automation of the FHA and the re-design of the data base for the Social Security Administration), small and medium-sized businesses (revenue up to $400 million/year), associations, non-profits and non-governmental organizations. He has traveled extensively overseas and his international work includes designing and installing a network for the parliament of Macedonia and helping develop LAN stations for a Chinese manufacturer. Mr. Jarrett graduated from Bethany College with a degree in Economics and Business Administration, and studied MIS at Georgetown University. He has been recognized for his contributions to the non-profit and IT fields by the American Society of Association Executives and the Association for Computing Machinery. In addition to his work at NDI, Mr. Jarrett provides pro-bono technical and policy advice for local non-profits, most recently for the Communitarian Network and Means For Dreams.
