NDI Staff: Biographies Dominic Cardy Dominic Cardy is NDI’s resident director in Nepal. Before moving to Kathmandu in 2005, he managed the Institute’s political party program in Cambodia for three years. Dominic also served on NDI teams that visited Egypt during the 2005 presidential and parliamentary elections, ran a national polling agent training program in Pakistan and managed election programs in Bangladesh in 2001, his first posting with the Institute. He has assisted NDI programs in Afghanistan, Algeria and Pakistan. Before joining NDI in 2001, Dominic worked for the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and for a Member of Parliament, in addition to serving in various campaign and staff positions with the New Democratic Party during the mid and late 1990s. Cofounder of a party reform movement and a commentator on politics in the Canadian media, Dominic was twice elected president of his party’s youth wing in the province of Nova Scotia while attending Dalhousie University, where he earned a BA in International Relations. In his spare time he flies the only private aircraft in Nepal and SCUBA dives with his biochemist wife, Cynthia Coffill. |
