Rishi Datta

 

Mr. Datta has provided technical electoral assistance in all four Afghan elections as well as assignments in Bangladesh, Burma, Iran, Iraq, Kosovo and the West Bank and Gaza.  Recently, he completed a 12 month tour in Afghanistan where he served as a political advisor to NATO’s senior civilian representative where he guided NATO/ International Security Assistance Force’s (ISAF) efforts during the 2010 parliamentary elections.  During the 2005 Afghanistan Wolesi Jirga and provincial council elections, he worked in 22 Afghan provinces.

As a media specialist, Mr. Datta has provided communications services in various countries and a variety of organizations including a secondment by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe’s Mission to Kosovo as deputy spokesperson and head of the media unit.

Mr. Datta holds an M.A. in transnational communication and global media from the University of London-Goldsmiths, U.K., a B.A. with honors in political science and a B.A. in law from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.

In addition to his native English, Mr. Datta speaks Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and some French.

In 2009, Rishi received the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal for his contribution to establishing and maintaining peace in his role as a Canadian civilian peacekeeper. In 2011, he received the NATO service medal for his work in Afghanistan.
