Keila González is NDI’s resident director in Mexico. From 2008 to 2010, Ms. González coordinated a regional program to support women’s coalitions. Before working with NDI, she was in charge of the civil movement Citizen Participation’s (Participación Ciudadana) Democratization of Political Leadership project in the Dominican Republic, where she developed different activities related to programs for the strengthening of the Dominican electoral system and the electoral observation of the Dominican elections of 2000, 2002 and 2004. These activities included recruiting and training youth volunteers. While working with Citizen Participation, she also coordinated follow-on activities for NDI’s leadership program in the Dominican Republic. She has trained and advised political parties and civil society organizations in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Argentina and Kosovo on subjects including the relationship between political parties and civil society, outreach to new social sectors, best practices for effective political parties, tools to develop successful campaigns and fundraising strategies. In 2000, Ms. González graduated Cum Laude in Psychology with a specialization in Human Development from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
