President Obama’s Special Envoy to Darfur, Scott Gration, is touring Sudan this week. Gration said on Saturday that the genocide in Darfur was “on the brink of deepening.” He hopes to pressure Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir to end the fighting in the region. … Susan D. Page is the Regional Director for Southern and East Africa at the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs. She was integral in drafting the comprehensive peace agreement that ended 21 years of conflict between North and South Sudan.
