NDI and MobileActive.org invite you to attend a workshop on the roles of new technologies in election monitoring, hosted by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) on Feb. 26, at the NED offices in Washington DC.

New technologies are significantly improving the ways in which citizens safeguard their elections, improving the speed and impact of existing monitoring methodologies, creating opportunities for new approaches to election oversight, and contributing to mitigating potentials for electoral related violence. As citizen technologies become more widely available, technologists working outside of the democracy and elections fields are making positive contributions to these areas. This is an opportune moment to connect the various efforts of practitioners and technologists in order to better realize the promise of new technologies to advance election monitoring and to improve electoral accountability.

NDI and MobileActive will convene leading practitioners in election monitoring and technologists, who are building new tools for electoral oversight, as well as representatives of a number of democracy assistance agencies, academics and policymakers. Together, we will define the current challenges and opportunities to effective citizen oversight related to elections and will establish a shared agenda for developing new citizen technologies and integrating them into election monitoring efforts.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP online by Feb. 24. There is a brief application process interested participants must complete before they are able to attend.
