The National Democratic Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working to support and strengthen democratic institutions worldwide through citizen participation, openness and accountability in government.

NDI and the International Republican Institute (IRI), in cooperation with American Council for Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) organized a training and networking seminar for 65 emerging young political and civic leaders from Europe and Eurasia in Belgrade, Serbia, from December 5-7, 2007. The seminar was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). In choosing from a variety of workshop modules, participants created their personal training syllabi, refined their leadership skills and discussed shared political and institutional obstacles to democratic reforms. The following countries and regions were represented: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine. Impressions from the seminar in Belgrade were captured in the video clip below by Italian documentary filmmaker Stefano Giantin, who resides in Belgrade.
