In Cote d’Ivoire, preparations for the Oct. 2015 presidential election have already begun. An international delegation fielded by NDI recently traveled to Abidjan at the invitation of the Ivorian government to conduct an election reform mission.

The 8-person delegation met with political and civil society actors, religious authorities and the institutions responsible for overseeing elections, such as the Independent Election Commission (CEI), the Ministry of Interior and the National Institute of Statistics (INS). One urgent issue that will need to be addressed before the election, the delegation found, is the composition of the CEI.
