Join the Honourable Lovemore Moyo and Mr. Austin Zvoma for this discussion about the constitutional reform process in Zimbabwe, hosted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies and NDI.
Honourable Lovemore Moyo, Speaker of the lower house of the Zimbabwe parliament, is chairperson of its Committee on Standing Rules and Orders. The parliament is taking the lead in the country's constitutional reform effort, which is expected to be considered in a public referendum in September. Among the issues being debated are executive powers, land distribution and dual citizenship.
Mr. Moyo has led several delegations of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Southern African Development Cooperation’s Parliamentary Forum. Since 2009 he has also served as the National Chairman of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).
Mr. Austin Zvoma has been the Clerk of the Parliament of Zimbabwe for over 20 years. He has been responsible for initiating and overseeing reforms that included the introduction of strategic planning and performance management in Zimbabwe's parliament. He holds a B.A. from the University of Zimbabwe and an M.Sc in Strategic Management from the University of Derby.
