The National Albanian American Council (NAAC) and NDI cordially invite you to a discussion with women leaders in Kosovo: "Women, Democracy, and Growth: Perspectives on Kosovo’s Economic Development."
Four years after declaring independence, Kosovo has worked to construct and reinforce an inclusive political environment and strengthen domestic democratic institutions. How has the country’s economic development impacted democratic institution-building? How have regional politics in the Balkans influenced Kosovo’s economy? What role do women play in both political and economic development?
A panel of three women leaders from Kosovo will discuss these questions as they visit NDI while in the United States on a NAAC Hope Fellowship. The panelists will be Leonita Shabani, Chief of Cabinet for the Kosovo Ministry of Economic Development; Albina Berisha, Small and Micro Enterprise Officer at the Community Development Fund; and Dhurata Prokshi, Head of the Regional Office of Caritas.
Time: 2:30 to 4 p.m.
Date: April 18, 2012
Place: NDI, 455 Massachusetts Ave., NW, 8th floor, Washington, D.C.
