Eduardo Nuñez is NDI’s director in Guatemala. Previously, he served from 2002 to 2006 as coordinator of the Organization of American States’ (OAS) program on democratic values and political management in Guatemala, as well as the OAS’ program on institutional strengthening and governance with the Guatemalan Congress. He served for eight years as director of electoral technical assistance programs for the Center for Electoral Assistance and Promotion (Centro de Asesoría y Promoción Electoral) for the Interamerican Institute of Human Rights (Instituto Interamericano de Derechos Humanos, IIDH/CAPEL,) including two years as program coordinator for governance and the right to political participation. He has served as a consultant with the United Nations Development Program on political parties, with the Inter-American Development Bank on political and civic education programs, and with the OAS on democracy and political management programs. Mr. Nuñez graduated in political science from the University of Costa Rica and has completed graduate studies in development project management at the Central American Institute for Public Administration.
