Accounting [1]

The accounting team provides guidance and support to NDI in the stewardship of its public and private funding. The accounting team assures legal and regulatory compliance and provides accurate information to NDI’s management team to assist in financial decision making.

Under the guidance of the chief financial officer, the mission of the accounting team is carried out through the work of four units:

The International Accounting Unit works with NDI’s overseas field offices to ensure that grant funds are expended and documented in compliance with donor and NDI regulations.

The General Accounting Unit provides quality and timely processing of financial transactions, manages the payroll process and coordinates the annual institutional audit of NDI’s financial statements produced by the unit.

The Grants Accounting Unit assists program staff in the financial management of their programs, assists in ensuring compliance with financial grant terms and provides timely and accurate internal and external financial reporting.

The Subgrants Accounting Unit issues subgrants to overseas and domestic organizations that support NDI’s democracy programs world wide. The unit provides training to subgrantees and program staff to ensure compliance with subgrantee regulations.

In addition, an internal auditor works with the assistant director of finance in conducting field office reviews and training field staff on NDI and donor financial policies. A senior advisor works with the chief financial officer in developing and monitoring NDI’s institutional budget.
