Commenting on the post-coup situation in Guinea, representatives from NDI, the International Crisis Group (ICG), the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) urged Guinea’s military junta to agree to a clear timetable for democratic elections. The March 10 event included a discussion of ICG’s recent report, “Guinea: The Transition Has Just Begun,” as well as a review of the ongoing efforts of NDI, NED and IFES to assist with voter registration and help Guinean civil society organizations and political parties to participate effectively in the transition process.
