Kristina Wilfore joined NDI with more than 17 years of political experience and virtually all aspects of political organizing. Ms. Wilfore is now the regional director in Ukraine, relying on her experience in elections, policy development and civic advocacy in order to support a more vibrant and accountable democracy for Ukrainians.
Prior to joining NDI, Ms. Wilfore served as executive director of the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center (BISC), turning a little known research shop into a powerhouse for direct democracy. Beginning with a budget of only $15,000, Wilfore planned, managed and implemented the center’s growth, turning it into a multi-million dollar politically influential NGO, which was awarded the most valuable think tank in Washington, D.C., of 2009 by The Nation. Ms. Wilfore provided consulting to an average of 40 campaigns a year for over eight years, providing technical support such as: polling, focus groups and other research methodologies to identify concerns; crafting messages, policies and platforms; targeting and communication with diverse audiences; inspiring and mobilizing voters; building and managing coalitions; and fundraising.
Ms. Wilfore has traveled overseas extensively, from Latin America to Asia. She holds bachelor's degrees in broadcast journalism and political science from Washington State University as well as a master's in public administration from the University of Washington Evans School.
