Salvador Romero Ballivián is NDI's resident director in Honduras. Before joining NDI, Mr. Romero was vice president of the electoral management body of La Paz and vice president and president of the electoral management body of Bolivia (Corte Nacional Electoral de Bolivia). He has also taught at the main public and private universities of Bolivia since 1995.
He has published a number of books on political and electoral subjects: Diccionario Biográfico de Parlamentarios (2009), Atlas Electoral Latinoamericano (2007, compilation); El Tablero Reordenado: Análisis de la Elección Presidencial de 2005 (2007, two editions); En la Bifurcación del Camino: Análisis de los Resultados de la Municipal 2004 (2005), Geografía Electoral de Bolivia (2003, three editions), Razón y Sentimiento: La Socialización Política y Las Trayectorias Electorales de la Elite Boliviana (2003), Participación y Abstención Electoral en Bolivia (2003, with two other authors), Reformas, Conflictos y Consensos (1999), Electores en Época de Transición (1995).
Since 1989, Mr. Romero has published papers in books, journals and newspapers of more than 15 countries in Latin America and Europe; since 1992 he has also presented at conferences in more than 20 countries. Since 2004, he participated in electoral or political missions in more than 12 countries of Latin America.
Mr. Romero obtained his Ph.D. in political science at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris.
