Gegham Sargsyan is the resident country director for NDI Armenia, overseeing NDI's work with political parties, parliamentary programs, local NGOs, youth and women's groups. Mr. Sargsyan brings over 15 years of political consulting and civic organizing experience to his position. He joined the Institute in 1995 and had served as resident country director in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Prior to joining NDI, Mr. Sargsyan was a presidential advisor on foreign policy issues in Armenia. In 1993, he worked as a coordinator for World Bank and International Monetary Fund delegations. Following that, he served as a senior trainer and consultant for an NGO training center in Yerevan, Armenia. Mr. Sargsyan has participated in various international election observation delegations and conducted trainings and consultations for political parties and candidates in all the former Soviet countries.
He has a law degree and Ph.D. in law from Moscow State University.
