NDI Supports Tunisian Citizens’ Call for a Voice in the Country

NDI today, Jan. 14, expressed support for the right of Tunisia’s citizens to have a more responsive government that respects civil and political liberties. Recognizing the continuing rise in the death toll caused by recent political unrest, NDI called on the Tunisian government to respect pledges made this week to prevent further fatalities and release those detained during demonstrations.

Building confidence, enhancing capacity and making connections is the focus of a new practical guidebook for aspiring young women leaders just published by NDI. The book combines ideas and strategies from the Institute's Youth of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow (YOTLOT) program with best practices and recommendations from NDI's quarter century of working with women leaders around the world. It features expert advice for young women with a drive and desire to become leaders.
As Egypt prepares for legislative elections in November, one civic group is ramping up efforts to get citizens to the polls. One tactic is a new website, www.vote4egypt.com, which launched today to bolster an ongoing campaign to convey the importance of voting.
