Ancuţa Hansen is NDI’s country director in Iraq. Previously, she managed NDI programs for political parties, legislatures, and civil society organizations in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as Asia. She also trained NDI's partners in Eastern Europe and Central America.
Before joining NDI in 2010, for more than 10 years, Ms. Hansen was politically engaged in her home country, Romania, managing election campaigns, advising political leaders and serving as a member of her party’s Integrity Commission. In 2006, she worked for the European Parliament and was elected as a county councilor the following year in 2007. She has served as a guest lecturer at various university and political conferences. Ms. Hansen is an enthusiastic volunteer of civic and women’s rights organizations.
She holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in International and Diplomatic Law and an M.A. in Communication and Public Relations. In addition to English, she is proficient in French and Spanish and has an advanced understanding of Portuguese.
