Laura Nichols is NDI’s resident country director in Liberia. Previously, she was the resident country director in Yemen and Kosovo. She has more than 20 years experience in grassroots organizing, government, elections, media, fundraising and political party financial management.
In Canada she worked at the provincial and national levels of the New Democratic Party (NDP), serving as general party secretary in both Alberta and British Columbia. Ms. Nichols has also worked with the NDI Iraq program, traveling to Erbil to participate as guest speaker in the National Platform for Women conference which brought together a cross-section of over 200 Iraqi women with the goal of developing a common agenda in advance of the general elections.
Ms. Nichols has a bachelor of arts in political science from the University of Alberta.
