For the purposes of cooperation and support of the Parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Parliament Support Programme, after the meeting held with Secretary General of the Assembly Cvetanka Ivanova on 6 July 2020, submits this proposal of recommendations for safe work and reorganization of the working processes in the Parliament.

A conference on Constitutionalism and Term Limits attended by former African heads of state, civil society leaders and media professionals gathered in Niamey, Niger, from October 2 to 4, 2019, at the invitation of NDI and its partners, the Kofi Annan Foundation, OSIWA and the Africa Forum, to discuss constitutionalism, democratic consolidation and the peaceful transfer of executive power across the continent. The participants extend their sincere thanks to the Government of Niger and His Excellency President Mahamadou Issoufou for hosting the conference.

The following summary provides updated information on current trends and developments in Western Balkan parliaments and compares the data released by each of the reviewed legislatures. The initial 2013 legislative openness survey summary was compiled to inform discussion at a regional workshop entitled “Transparency and Parliamentary Cooperation with Civic Societies” organized by the National Council of the Slovak Republic (NC SR) and National Democratic Institute (NDI) in Slovakia in November 2013. The current summary summarizes updates for the period from January 2016 - January 2017.
Since March 2011, the National Democratic Institute (NDI) has conducted regular qualitative research in Tunisia to provide political and civic leaders with objective information about citizens’ attitudes. From August 20 to 27, 2016, NDI organized its 16th round of research—the fifth round conducted since the 2014 elections—to gauge citizens’ opinions on the performance of the parliament and members of parliament (MPs), assess their views on some pressing matters facing the country, and ascertain their awareness of and expectations for the upcoming decentralization process and local elections.
