Bidushi Dhungel

Bidushi Dhungel has over fifteen years of work experience at the interface of journalism and development. She has worked extensively on supporting inclusive policy making processes within legislative and government bodies with NDI in Nepal. She has managed programming focused on strengthening parliamentary capacity to implement effective legislation and supporting the Government of Nepal to improve post-disaster communication and in conducting information campaigns on Nepal’s new Constitution. Ms Dhungel previously worked as a journalist and researcher in India, Nepal and the UK, covering issues related to human rights and politics, including research on post-conflict sexual violence and impunity. She has engaged heavily in Nepal’s transition to peace in various capacities reporting, analyzing and as a member of civil society working to institutionalize and push forward democratic reforms. As an activist in Nepal, Ms. Dhungel has coordinated extensively with local and regional Civil Society organizations, political party leaders and was closely associated with early alternative politics movements. Ms Dhungel has a BA in Politics and Anthropology, a Master’s degree in Asian Politics from SOAS, UK and is pursuing a second Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management from Kathmandu University. She regularly lectures on Nepal’s political transition for international exchange programs in Kathmandu.
