Samia Mahgoub

Sudan Resident Director

Samia Mahgoub is currently CEPPS/NDI’s Senior Resident Country Director for Sudan. Ms. Mahgoub brings more than 30 years of experience in roles focused on civil society development, civic and voter education, democratization as well as elections administration and observation across Africa, Europe, the Middle East and America. Ms. Mahgoub joined NDI after working as team leader of the European Union’s Supporting Democracy Program, where she advised and supervised the implementation of technical assistance for democracy programs. She has led activities on civil society organization capacity-building, development and training of citizen observers, strengthening policy dialogue between local partners, assisting domestic observation networks and analyzing the civic engagement space across Southern and East Africa. She is accredited as a BRIDGE (Building Resources in Democracy, Governance and Elections) facilitator and has previously led governance programs in Burundi, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia and Yemen. Ms. Mahgoub has worked extensively with both civil society organizations and government actors within complex democratic spaces that are transitioning from previous governments.
