The National Democratic Institute (NDI) deployed an international delegation to Kenya from April 3 - 7, 2017. The purpose of the mission was to assess preparations for Kenya's August 2017 elections. The consultations examined election preparations, assessed the political environment, and offered recommendations that Kenyan citizens, civil society, political parties, and the government can take to ensure the integrity and peacefulness of the electoral process.

This immediate post-election statement is offered by the National Democratic Institute’s (NDI) election observer delegation to Kenya’s 2017 general elections. This statement follows a Preliminary Statement issued on August 10.

BEIRUT, Lebanon—The National Democratic Institute (NDI) is fielding a delegation to assess preparations for Lebanon’s parliamentary elections in May.

Members of the delegation are: Daniel Mitov of Bulgaria, former Foreign Minister; Chafik Sarsar of Tunisia, former President of the Independent High Authority for Elections; and Shari Bryan, Vice-President at NDI.

NDI collaborated with the Federation of Women Lawyers - Kenya (FIDA-K) to review the performance of women in the 2017 general elections in A Gender Analysis of the 2017 Kenya General Elections.

Iraq - The UK Conflict Stability and Security Fund in Iraq is funding the National Democratic Institute (NDI) to conduct independent public opinion research across Iraq (download polling report). The first of six surveys has been released today.

Harare, Zimbabwe – The joint International Republican Institute and National Democratic Institute Zimbabwe International Election Observer Mission (ZIEOM) expresses deep concern over the reported assaults, detentions and abductions of opposition supporters and leaders in certain regions of Zimbabwe.
