Lisa Oliveri, NDI’s Director of Global Risk Management, Security and Operations, has received the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) Women in Security Global Community Karen Marquez Honors Award of Excellence. The award honors a female security professional who has consistently worked for the betterment of the security industry.
At NDI, Lisa oversees the organizational systems that manage the inherent risk in the environments in which NDI operates. Her efforts support the safety and security of NDI’s global staff. This work is more important than ever, given the global trend of rising authoritarianism and increased efforts by bad actors to harass and discourage democratic actors and organizations.
In collaboration with institutional and external stakeholders, Lisa and her team have managed many complex situations in some of the most dangerous environments. Doing a wide variety of things like developing an NDI risk matrix or helping to coordinate the evacuation of more than 1,024 Afghans after the Taliban took over, Lisa and her team play a critical role in NDI’s ability to engage in successful programming.
Lisa is also one of 34 members of the U.S. State Department's Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) and serves on the ASIS International Global Board of Directors. She is the past Chair of ASIS International’s Chief Security Officer Center for Leadership and Development Board and the past Chair of the OSAC International Development Sector Committee. Lisa currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Friends for the Future, Inc. and volunteers as a Support Coordinator with Hostage US, a non-profit organization that supports families of Americans taken hostage or wrongfully detained abroad and supports hostages and detainees when they return home.
Lisa is a frequent speaker at security industry events and has received several awards and honors that recognize her hard work and commitment. Notably, Lisa was named an IFSEC Global Top Influencer in Security and Fire in 2021 and 2022 and was featured in Security Magazine’s Women in Security 2021 program. Lisa’s numerous and well-deserved accomplishments demonstrate her excellence in the field of security.
“To receive this recognition from my peers, and to join a distinguished list of past and well respected trailblazers … is a profound honor.” - Lisa Oliveri |
NDI celebrates this recognition of Lisa’s achievements in the field of security and mitigating risk. We are grateful for her significant and valuable contributions to the organization and to the security industry at large. NDI applauds ASIS’s acknowledgment of her critical work.
