If you choose to make your donation online via our secure giving page, you will receive an immediate tax acknowledgment email. Your donation can be made confidentially if you wish, or in honor / memory of a friend, colleague or loved one.

All donations to NDI are tax-deductible in the U.S. If you are based outside the U.S., please consult with your tax advisor on international tax deductions. NDI’s Tax ID # is: 52-1338892.

Other Ways to Give

Wire Transfer

Depending on the level of contribution you wish to make, this way is efficient as there are little to no fees associated with this method - unlike with credit card donations, for which organizations often have to “eat” the credit card processing fee for the donation that was made.

Stocks and Mutual Funds

When you donate appreciated securities, like stocks or mutual funds in support of our mission, you can reduce or even eliminate federal capital gains taxes on the transfer.

IRA (Individual Retirement Account) Giving

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), also known as IRA charitable rollover, is an easy way for individuals age 70 ½ or older to use their IRAs to make a long-term charitable impact and save significantly on income taxes.

Donor Advised Fund

A donor advised fund (DAF), which is like a charitable savings account, gives you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often gifts are granted to charities of your choice. A DAF must be set up with a sponsoring financial institution of your choosing (e.g. Fidelity, Vanguard Charitable, Charles Schwab, Edward Jones, community foundations, etc). Once established, by providing NDI’s EIN 52-1338892, you can recommend (advise) your financial institution to make a donation to NDI from your fund.

Matching Gift Program

The Benefits or Human Resources Office of your employer (or your spouse's employer) can help provide necessary information on the company's Matching Gift Program. Your employer will enroll you in their program and contact NDI, or they will ask you to fill out a form and mail it to NDI with your donation. We will then return the form to your employer with the requested information needed for them to match your gift. NDI is also a member of Benevity, which many companies use to support their and their employees’ charitable giving.

Planned Giving

Donors are encouraged to make a bequest to NDI by means of their will or other estate plan. You can name NDI as the beneficiary of a portion of your estate, or of particular assets in your estate.

Giving by bequest costs nothing now, yet may give you a great deal of satisfaction to know your future gift will live on to help others. For many alumni and friends of NDI, a charitable bequest is the easiest and best way to make a lasting gift to NDI.

Your planned gift ensures that the work of NDI continues until we are assured that global democracy is thriving and benefitting millions of people deserving of a brighter and safer future.

Some types of planned gifts:

  • Retirement Plans: NDI is designed as a beneficiary of the remainder or a percentage of the remainder of your retirement plan.
  • Life Income Gifts: NDI pays an income stream for life or a term of years.
  • Bequests: Bequests are made primarily through gifts of cash, securities, real estate, and tangible personal property.
  • Charitable Lead Trust:  An irrevocable trust designed to provide financial support to one or more charities for a period of time.
