Thursday, September 3, 2015

Washington, DC – The National Democratic Institute (NDI) announced today that Jerry Hartz will be joining the Institute in a new position as Director of Government Relations and Communications.

“As a key aide on Capitol Hill for nearly 30 years and an active member of the foreign policy community, Jerry brings a wealth of experience to the Institute," said Kenneth Wollack, president of NDI. "We will be fortunate to benefit from his expertise."

"I am thrilled to join the dedicated staff of NDI, who work tirelessly to support strong democratic institutions, transparent and accountable government and free elections around the world," said Hartz. "I look forward to the new challenges that NDI will bring, and am very thankful for the wonderful opportunities I have had to serve Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and the entire Democratic Caucus."

Hartz has served most recently as senior adviser and director of floor operations for former Speaker and current Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. Throughout his career, foreign policy issues have been a focus.

Hartz will be joining NDI on September 14 and succeeds Kathy Gest, who was NDI’s director of communications for the past eight years.

The National Democratic Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working to support and strengthen democratic institutions worldwide through citizen participation, openness and accountability in government. More information is available at www.ndi.org.
