The National Democratic Institute is deeply concerned about the health of the prominent Russian political activist, Vladimir Kara-Murza, who has been hospitalized in Moscow, and expresses its hope that he will receive the highest-quality medical care available.

"Mr. Kara-Murza is a wise and courageous advocate for democracy," said NDI President Kenneth Wollack. "He has devoted his considerable talent and energy, at great personal cost, to the goals of justice, human rights and political freedom." As the symptoms of this illness bear similarity to those Mr. Kara-Murza experienced in 2015, when foul play was alleged, NDI calls for a thorough and independent investigation into the causes of his condition.
