Statement from NDI President Derek Mitchell on Belarus

NDI condemns the recent non-democratic elections, intimidation and repression of candidates, election observers, and independent media, and the continuing violence against peaceful protesters in Belarus. We stand with the Belarusian people in their demand for free association, free assembly, free speech, and free elections. Belarus best protects its sovereignty and independence by allowing its citizens to exercise their democratic rights. NDI joins the U.S.

NDI Kosovo Public Opinion Poll 2020

In May 2020, Kosovo citizens were more optimistic than last year about the direction of the country. Longstanding concerns remained unemployment and corruption, now followed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the lack of visa liberalization with the European Union. Violence against women was a major challenge.
